Frequently Asked Questions
How do we know which grade to enroll our camper in? Campers should be enrolled in the camp for the grade they are entering into in the 2020-2021 school year. For example, if your child finished second grade last year, they would be joining us at Camp Wenonah as an “Explorer Camper” in the third grade group.
What should my camper bring to camp? Please be sure to pack a water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray, weather appropriate clothing, a hat, lunch and some extra snacks, and comfortable strapped on shoes. Campers must have strapped on shoes in order to participate in the ropes course. On Wednesdays and Fridays, please additionally pack a swimsuit and towel for your campers so they can participate in swimming at our Wednesday Field Trip and our slip and slide on Friday. Please mark all of your campers things and be sure to pack personal items in a backpack to limit the loss of items. All items that are left at camp are collected on Fridays and left in a lost and found bin at the front desk. Additional packing lists are provided via email to families by the Tuesday before their week of camp.
How do we register? To register for Camp Wenonah programs, you can stop by the front desk at the YMCA, give the front desk a call or register online at www.winonaymca.org. Registration is not available via email.
Do you accept payment plans? For families registering for contracted or multiple weeks of Camp Wenonah, we do accept payment plan forms. You must have a credit or debit card on file to set up a payment plan form, and payment is due by the Tuesday before the week of camp. These are accepted on a case by case basis. Will I receive any confirmation emails or information before the start of camp? After registration for Camp Wenonah, you will receive an email confirmation from Alexa Shapiro. The Tuesday before the week of camp, you will receive an additional email with specific information for your camper’s week at Camp Wenonah. By the Thursday before camp, you will also receive a phone call from a counselor to answer any questions you may have. If you do not receive these pieces of communication, we may have the wrong email or phone number for you. Please reach out to Alexa Shapiro at email@example.com if you haven’t received any confirmation information. Happy Dancing Turtle will also provide confirmation information to their campers.
What time is pick up and drop off? Drop off is between 7:30-9:00 am. All campers must arrive by 9:00 am in order to be transported out to Camp Wenonah. Pick up is between 12:00-12:30 pm for Pre-K campers and 4:00-5:00 pm for all other campers.
What is the refund policy? You can cancel up to eight business days before the start of the camp season for a full refund. Past eight days, no refunds will be given. If a child becomes sick or is turned away from care due to their health screening results, a pro-rated partial refund will be provided for the days of camp missed.
